Does Trump Make the GOP Look Like a Chump? Update: "I Might Run as a Third Party Candidate" 7/23

Update: 7/23/2015

Per CBS News:
When asked Donald Trump stated, "If the Republicans are too mean to me, Donald Trump threatened Wednesday, I might just run as a third party candidate in the 2016 presidential election."

"I'll have to see how I'm being treated by the Republicans," Trump told The Hill newspaper when asked whether he might consider an independent bid. "Absolutely, if they're not fair, that would be a factor."

Why as a front runner for Republican candidate 2016 would Donald state this? Because his ego is much larger than his sincerity.

Go ahead Donald - "Run Trump Run" and assure Hillary the win (do you remember Ross Perot's 3rd party run - it was a vote for Clinton).

My opinion only - YES!

The Donald has made the news for calling a national hero “not a war hero,” for using less than flattering adjectives at Mexican immigrants and yet his numbers are soaring. Is it a testament to the fact that the people are tired of political correctness or is it 15 minutes of fame that is on its second cycle?

Republican, Independent, Democrat, Republican…Goose. A game of flip hopping from one party to another to make personal gain. I too have switched parties over 30 years but I’m not running for President. I also did not change five times when it was convenient for my business practice or political advancement.

Per The Washington Times:
“Republican presidential candidate Donald trump switched political party affiliations at least five times since the late 80’s …he left the (GOP) party as recently as 2011.

Per The Smoking Gun:
* In July 1987, Trump first registered from his penthouse in Manhattan’s Trump Tower. He enrolled in the REPUBLICAN PARTY, listing his prior residence as his boyhood home in Jamaica Estates, Queens.
* Twelve years later, in October 1999, Trump dumped the GOP, and enrolled in the INDEPENDENCE PARTY.
* Less than two years later, in August 2001, Trump again changed his party enrollment. This time, he emerged as a member of the DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
* He lasted eight years as a Democrat. In September 2009, Trump changed his affiliation, this time returning to the REPUBLICAN PARTY.
* As of press time, Trump’s latest party switch occurred six weeks ago, on December 21, when he again ditched the GOP. But instead of siding with a particular party, Trump checked off the box indicating “I DO NOT WISH TO ENROLL IN A PARTY.”

Philanthropy is big with The Donald and with me. That said let’s see where his $1.3 million in political donations have gone. Over 54% have fed the Democratic Party. It’s a free country and it is his money. But does a GOP candidate generally give to the opposing team?

Per The Washington Post

54% of $1.3 million was donated to the Democratic party including:
Hillary Clinton – insert my opinion – he gave money to the person he intends to go against if deemed the GOP candidate?
HARRY REID – insert my opinion – How can anyone representing the GOP give to this man that sabotaged Mitt Romney’s candidacy and is in bed with Nancy Pelosi?
Edward Rendell
Rahm Emanuel – former aide to President Obama
And others

Per Pundit Fact

“While conservatives like Ferguson have criticized Trump for his donations to Democrats, Trump defended himself as having no viable Republican options in overwhelmingly blue states like New York. "Everyone’s Democratic," he told Sean Hannity in 2011. "So what am I going to do — contribute to Republicans? One thing: I’m not stupid. Am I going to contribute to Republicans for my whole life when they get heat when they run against some Democrat and the most they can get is 1 percent of the vote?"’

So why am I so anti-Trump besides his brash tone and “call it like I see it” mannerisms? Because the man can’t decide what he stands for and who he really is in the political front. I see him as an opportunist that wants to be president by the GOP or as a third party delegate. Do I believe he is passionate about the United States and his heart is in the right place? Yes! Do I think his foot is in his mouth every time he speaks? Yes!

I personally believe that you don’t need to be a politician to be president. Remember the statement “anyone can be president if they want to?” Of course that was about as sincere as “eat your carrots so you won’t go blind.” In my opinion a president should have some political or military (see Washington and Eisenhower) to be president. In two cases I am watching closely, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina, the mantra stated by children before 1988 may stand correct.

But Trump has a history of not evolving but true “flip flopping.” I can forgive that because I too have jumped ship from the left to the right. But I don’t yell, intimidate reporters to cast an egotistical glow, promise a full two-sided wall around the United States and I don’t call John McCain one of America’s most honored war veterans a non-hero. No, I just grew over 30 years of voting, a lot of research and soul searching to make my “evolution” back to the GOP.

As a personal note to my fellow Republicans – watch the debates; decide who is BEST suited as candidate and who has the BEST CHANCE at beating Hillary. Then, stand behind the candidate all the way. No more – “I won’t vote for so and so.” That is why the party can’t get in the White House. We aren’t invited because we show no loyalty to the candidate the party (us) has chosen. VOTE at the primaries. People – the primaries is where YOUR VOTE truly matters. Enough said.
